CAPPADOCCIA

Our tour will start with Goreme Open Air museum, a vast monastic complex composed of scores of refectory monasteries placed side-by-side, each with its own fantastic church. It is obviously the first sight to be visited by any traveler in Cappadocia. Our next stop will be the breath-taking, unique and incredible Ozkonak Underground City that is situated around Avanos, town of Nevsehir. This glorious structure reflects the dreamy historical atmosphere due to its architectural characteristic and its geopolitical situation. Our tour will continue with Paşabağ ("Pah-shah-bah") which is known in English as the Valley of the Monks. Paşabağ means "Pasha’s Vineyard", a name it received after the Byzantine Greek population left the region which is located in the middle of a vineyard. Paşabağ contains some of the most striking fairy chimneys in Cappadocia with twin and even triple rock caps - formations that are unique even for Cappadocia. After a short drive to the the heart of Cappadocia we will get to the breathtakingly beautiful Avcilar valley, with poplars, fruit trees and gardens between two walls of coloured tuff. We will follow all the meanders; the colours change quickly, the white dominate, the abandoned gardens fall down in this strange land. At the end of our tour we will see the summit where Cappadocia mingles with the clouds; Uçhisar Castle is the tallest fairy chimney and can be seen from any spot in the region. When you reach the summit of the castle, all the beauty of Cappadocia is laid at your feet, everything from Mt. Erciyes to the Hasan Mountains, from Pigeon Valley to Avanos, from the Ortahisar castle to the town of Göreme. But of course reaching the summit is optional since there is no elevator available.
