OVERVIEW
Our tour will start with the Hippodrome of Costantinople and the Blue Mosque. Blue Mosque is one of the unique mosques of Ottoman architecture famous for its beautiful blue tile work ornamenting its interior walls. Later you will see the Hagia Sophia, considered the epitome of Byzantine architecture and is said to have “changed the history of architecture.” While it was built in 360 as the Greek Patriarchal cathedral of Constantinople, in 1453 it was converted into a mosque. That is until 1934, when it was secularized and turned into a museum. You will both be able to see Byzantine mosaics and the Islamic features of the Ottoman Era.
Of course you would not miss the most important musuem of Turkey and Balkan Peninsula : Topkapi Palace, Royal residential palace and administrative seat of Ottoman Sultans,where you will see one of the most precious diamonds of the world. Basilica Cistern will be our next stop.You will be amazed with the atmosphere and Roman architecture of sixth century with 336 marble columns, mostly in Ionic or Corinthian styles, each measuring 9 meters in length.
A little shopping wouldn't hurt anyone. Go directly to Grand Bazaar for a unique shopping experience you have never tasted before. Explore 62 streets, 4000 shops, one of the biggest and oldest covered bazaars. From antiques to silver, silk products to gold, hand-woven carpets to calligraphy artworks a huge variety of handicraft is available at the bazaar.
